When I started\ntranslating, I could see a huge gap as far as the processes are concerned.&nbsp; So we started with outsourcing translation of\nbooks for publishers. Though started with one language pair, it was very clear\nto me right from the beginning that it would be a multilingual, multi-media\nlanguage service providing company,\u201d says Vidula. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wherever language is used,\nTranslationPanacea services add value. It has three segments of clients- First,\nPublishers, Second, Manufacturing and IT industry, and Third, Media,\nadvertisement and entertainment. These are all B-2-B clients. Networking and\nclient referral are the best ways to get to prospective clients, believes Ms Tokekar\nwho is a member of Business Network International (BNI). The company also takes\nhelp of technology to reach prospective clients.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No business is an island. You\nhave to grow in an environment. Clients, vendors staff, society, students all\nare an integral part of this ecosystem. Speaking about the ethics, Vidula\nbelieves in values &#8211; transparency, honesty, trust and a spirit of partnership.\n\u201cTranslationPanacea is made of book lovers spread across the globe.&nbsp; Basically they are creative and sensitive\nindividuals. To mould them in certain processes could have been a tough task,\nbut I think it was our honest approach and care towards their concerns and keeping\nthings simple made their acceptance easy.&nbsp;\nOf course their acceptance and receptive mindset plays a great role,\u201d Vidula\nadded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the internal team of\neditors, translators, book designers, admin team, she has an interesting <em>funda<\/em>\nborrowed from Ricardo Semler &#8211; \u2018It is better to ask for forgiveness than to ask\nfor permission\u2019. The team is empowered to take decisions and responsibility. \u201cI\nam happy because I get free to think and do the new,\u201d she smiles.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clients keep you in business.\nThey are the reason why you are in business.&nbsp;\nReplying to \u2018what is important -money or client satisfaction\u2019, she says,\n\u201cLike any business, our business also has client needs at its centre. Client\nsatisfaction and money are not mutually exclusive. You must satisfy client\nneeds. I would say you need to identify, think of, dig out client needs and not\njust satisfy, but delight them.&nbsp; We are\nservice providers. We have to be by the client\u2019s side in whatever help they may\nneed for languages. Also we are here to make reasonable money. When you give\nhonest, whole hearted service, clients pay. Now-a-days, any business looks at\nvendors as partners. And if you come across some business who does not\nunderstand the value of your work, they are not your clients \u2013 yet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outsourcing of translation of\nbooks in an organised way is a new service in itself.&nbsp; It took a lot of time and efforts for her to\nconvince the first few publishers.&nbsp; Once\nthe \u2018demo effect\u2019 was there, the job was a bit easier. Language is a highly\ncreative process. The notion was and still is that you need to have a lot of\ntime and leisure to translate, to write. \u201cBeing a translator I know how much\nyou get attached to the content and what efforts you have to put in to give\njustice to the work. At the same time, I wore the hat of a businessperson \u2013\nrather a processes person.&nbsp; I believed\nthat the whole work can be delivered better, faster and with quality.&nbsp; So we thought of and executed some new ways\nwithout compromising quality. That way we assured regular income for\ntranslators, faster delivery to clients and growth of business for us. We agree\nwith Einstein when he says \u2018Creativity is discipline\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another innovation is about\ntheir engagement models with clients and with language professionals.&nbsp; They developed new ways of training the team\nmembers, ways to build in quality, ways of faster deliveries, introducing\nprocesses in functions where one could not think of measurable parameters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, at\nTranslationPanacea, all have to do \u2018two new things every month\u2019. That is a KRA\nfor key positions. Imagine how many new things they must be doing in a year! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cutting the ropes of\nestablished business completely and deliberately dive into language business\nwas itself a great risk.&nbsp; Once you have\njumped into it, you can only go forward. Currently, it provides service in 24\nlanguages. In terms of books, it has delivered more than 250 translated titles\nto publishers in print ready format.&nbsp; It\nalso has worked on language part of SEO of about more than 1200 webpages, have\ntranslated prestigious websites including that of His Holiness Dalai Lama.\nTranslationPanacea has transcripted hours of audio content in legal and\njournalism domain.
